Vera W. Hoffman
VOICE/MUSIC
It has often been said that I came out of the womb singing. For as long as I can remember, my only escape from stress or conflicts was music. Some days, when I feel a little empty, I realize it's because I haven't heard a song all day. I especially enjoy singing in groups, and have participated in multiple award-winning choirs and chamber choirs. I attended my middle school's singing competitions and won multiple awards including the "Best Upcoming Singer" and "Best Duo" to name a few. Even when there was no access to choirs due to COVID, I continued my voice lessons online, learning songs in English, Dutch, ad even Korean. I carried my passion into my high school, becoming a prominent member in the Band Club and rising up to become the leader in my senior year. I hope to carry my love of singing and music further, and begin to release my singing to the public one day.
UWC ISAK Japan Gratitude Dinner
Our Band Club decided ISAK's annual Gratitude Dinner could use some ambient music. Therefore, we put together a set list and performed a mix of songs. My performances included "Blue Bossa" by Joe Henderson, "Never Gonna Be Alone" by Jacob Collier and Lizzy McApline, "You Are the Reason" by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis, and "Somebody to Love" by Queen.
UWC ISAK Japan Acoustic Concert
In order to challenge our club members, we hosted an acoustic concert outside. No mics or amps were allowed, and only the guitar and piano could be used! I learned a lot from the experience, but it was very cold.
